Seniors Personal Training
Fitness training is important for promoting the health of men and women of all ages. The goal of this class is to improve your quality of life--to be able to walk reasonable distances, use stairs without difficulty, and play with your grandchildren -- including getting up and down from the floor. Fitness is equally important to prevent falls.
To achieve these goals, the 1-hour classes are gentle workouts with a common theme of strengthening your body’s core muscles. This typically involves four components:
Strength training using lightweight dumbbells, stretch bands, and stability balls.
Balance exercises targeting the muscles in the core, ankles, and hips.
Flexibility emphasizing stretching exercises like gentle yoga or chair yoga.
Cardiovascular Endurance featuring fun movements such as dancing and even boxing exercises.
Classes are open to seniors of all levels. The exercises can be performed standing or modified to enable you to do them sitting in a chair. Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace and listen to their body.
I have taken continuing education classes to earn certifications in stability, balance and the cognitive function of seniors.
